You Are Exactly Where You Are Supposed To Be

Lately life on Facebook and in general has been feeling like a high school dance. We all have been having our fun dancing our little hearts out, and always enjoying life without worry. All of a sudden, a slow dance comes on, people pair off and I start thinking to myself, who is left for me?

That is how I feel at the wonderful age of 23

More often, I find myself surrounded by couples taking it to the next step of maturity in life: getting engaged and married. Every day we have thousands of conflicting thoughts running through our head, and one of these thoughts for me is “Am I going to be left single for the rest of my life?”

We are all exactly where we are supposed to be right now. En route.

swingAfter reading The Untethered Soul, I’ve realized that these thoughts are normal. Thankfully, I can stop having a pity party, come back down to earth, and realize that there are enough fish in the sea. I will also stop being selfish because I am so happy for each and every one of my friends that have recently been engaged or married.

As a single 20-something, I figured that I would put a list of things together to share with you what inspires me to keep having fun and living life to the fullest…

1. Stop Worrying

We are only 20-something years old. If we trust that the right one will come, he will (when it’s the right time in your life for him to come, which might not seem like the right time at all but that’s how life works).

2. Write Him Down

My mom always told me to have a dream board, which included what I wanted in a guy. So, write down all the qualities you want in your husband. You will be surprised what will happen down the road.

3. Take a Trip

Enjoy being single. This does not mean you have to go to a bar. Go travel by yourself. This is the one time to work on you. Brownie Wise, author of Best Wishes, said, “Aloneness gives us the companionship of our innermost thoughts, that rise ever so slowly to the surface…revealing our desires and dislikes, our wants and our needs.” This is most likely the only time in your life where you won’t have to worry about taking care of other people. Take care of yourself, and be the best you can be so that when you do find prince charming and have a family (if you want to), you will be the best role model for them.

4. Smile and Be Happy

Why not enjoy life right now. Life is full of unexpected changes. You never know what tomorrow will bring. So enjoy your current reality because it is all you have. The past is the past, and the future will always be the future. Do things now that will help your future change for the better. Today is a gift, that is why it is called the Present

5. Be Grateful

After reading the book The Happiness Advantage, I realized that I needed to be more thankful for everything I have in my life. Write down three things daily that you are grateful for. You will realize how much you have instead of how much you don’t.

6. Focus

We have either just started our first career, or have been with our company for a year or so now. Wherever you are in your career, give it your all. You never know who is watching. A book I recommend for accomplishing goals in and out of your work place is called The Slight Edge. You can thank me later.

7. Be Open-Minded

There are many opportunities out there. If you are invited to a dinner or an event, go! (if you are free) You never know who you are going to meet, and where it will lead you. Who knows, you could find your dream career through meeting people or even your dream guy.

Journey on, girls.
