Trendy on a Budget: Making Fashion More Eco-Friendly

While on my flight to Cali this past May, I read a magazine article about a company called Amour Vert (“Green Love” en francais). Amour Vert is committed to making great clothing with a design philosophy that promotes zero waste. Think non-toxic dyes, efficient use of fabric and carpooling fabrics with local businesses. On top of this, they pledge to plant a tree in North America for every Amour Vert T-shirt purchased. How impressive is that? After reading the article, I started thinking. What kind of carbon footprint am I leaving behind due to my fashion whims?

After doing a little bit of research, I was pleasantly surprised at the number of brands that carry eco-friendly lines: asos the green room, Freedom of Animals, kowtow, Claire V., and H&M, just to name a few. So on my latest trip to H&M, I sought out the conscious line and picked up this fab bomber jacket. How luxe is this piece? One thing’s for sure. One can be eco-conscious without compromising style.
