It’s a (Wo)man’s World Music Artist Feature: Anna Lunoe

Each month, I will feature a talented female music artist who is not very well-known in the music industry. Although we have women like Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift dominating the Top 40 charts, the rest of the industry is still very male dominated. This series is meant to highlight the ladies who are killing it because they are talented, beautiful, dedicated, passionate, and able to rock a crowd. If you have an artist you’d like to see highlighted, please mention them in the comments!

Surprise! Another kickass female artist from Australia (what’s in the water over there?!).

I first got wind of Anna Lunoe a couple of years ago from one of my favorite duos gLAdiator when they put her track Breathe into one of their mixes. Breathe encompasses a deep house feel, with bouncy kick drums, groovy bass-lines, and catchy vocals that keeps you dancing. At the time, Deep House was still pretty much underground with a loyal following. Over the past year, this genre has re-blown up, becoming one of the hottest sounds at festivals worldwide. Luckily, Anna was already there, making beats that you can’t help but groove and dance to.

The Bass Drum Dealer (BDD) EP is a hard hitting, 2 track EP that was picked up and released by Skrillex’s label NEST, which became the labels biggest release. Soon to follow would be the All Out EP, which came in Top 5 of the iTunes dance chart. Both EPs are incredible testaments to what years of hard work and dedication get you. Over the course of a couple years, Anna Lunoe became a relatively unknown name to a name you see on festival lineups everywhere. As if that’s not enough, she’s speaking up against drugs and drug-related deaths at said festivals, reassuring fellow music lovers that they don’t need to do drugs to be a part of the scene.

Anna is currently on the Full Flex Express Tour with Jack U (Skrillex & Diplo) and can also be found at Hard Summer and the cruise festival Holy Ship.
