It’s a (Wo)man’s World Music Artist Feature: Nervo
Each month, I will feature a talented female music artist who is not very well- known in the music industry. Although we have women like Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift dominating the Top 40 charts, the rest of the industry is still very male dominated. This series is meant to highlight the ladies who are killing it because they are talented, beautiful, dedicated, passionate, and able to rock a crowd. If you have an artist you’d like to see highlighted, please mention them in the comments!
You may have seen them in Cover Girl commercials. You may have seen them DJ the VMA Red Carpet Show. You may have heard tracks they’ve written for top 40 artists. Chances are, if you’ve turned on the TV or listened to the radio in the past few years, you’ve seen or heard NERVO.
Hailing from Australia, sisters Mim and Liv Nervo were first and foremost fans before they became musicians themselves. They blew up in 2009 when “When Love Takes Over,” a track they co-wrote for David Guetta featuring Kelly Rowland hit it big on worldwide charts and won a Grammy. They’ve also been credited with hits for The Pussycat Dolls, Kylie Minogue, Ke$ha, and even Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai. When they’re not writing songs for other artists, NERVO has been plenty busy in the studio producing their debut album Collateral (out July 10, 2015). If we know anything based on past experiences, this album is sure to be full of high-energy, feel-good tracks from the electronic music’s premiere sister duo.
With a Grammy under their belts and numerous Top 10 hits, we know we can expect big things from these two in the future. Now that festival season in full swing, be sure to catch them at one near you, OR visit them at their Las Vegas residency at Omnia.
