It’s a (Wo)man’s World Music Artist Feature: Aruna

Each month, I will feature a talented female music artist who is lesser known in the music industry. Although we have Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, etc dominating the Top 40 charts, the rest of the industry is still very male dominated. This series is meant to highlight the ladies who are killing it because they are talented, beautiful, dedicated, passionate, and able to rock a crowd. If you have an artist you’d like to see highlighted, please mention them in the comments!

If you’re a fan of dance music, you have most likely come in contact with a track featuring Aruna’s sultry and calming voice. Since 2007, Aruna has been a leading vocalist and collaborator with trance’s biggest names such as Armin van Buuren, Cosmic Gate, ATB, Myon & Shane 54, and Ferry Corsten. Aruna’s raw talent and creativity quickly led her to be one of EDM’s leading vocalists. Not only does this girl have the pipes, she is the only EDM vocalist who is also a DJ and producer. Besides collaborating with other EDM producers and touring, she also hosted a biweekly podcast featuring her top tracks of the moment. It was recently revealed through an exclusive interview with Magnetic Mag the reason behind her sudden disappearance in 2014 was due to a severe anxiety attack. During this time, Aruna lost the ability to work and realized that the true path to happiness is finding a balance between mind and body. Her new single “The End” encompasses her feelings throughout this journey and acts as a message to others who may be going through a similar situation.

According to the interview, Aruna has big plans coming up this year. She will be doing less features (unless it’s with a really well-know artist) and instead putting out a lot more of her own singles with the potential of an EP as well. Welcome back Aruna! We are glad you are getting healthier and look forward to hearing more from you!
